I strongly recommend that you check out the Panic Away Program. The program was constructed by Barry McDonagh, a panic and anxiety sufferer who couldn't find the treatment he was looking for and so did extensive research into the topic and formulated his own program which has helped tens of thousands of people around the world. It's clear that a huge amount of work has gone into Panic Away, and it's working out for it's creator, as Panic Away has been the best selling panic and anxiety product out there for years. For its simplicity, straight forward approach and effectiveness in actually removing the anxiety rather than just teaching you how to deal with it, we vote Panic Away the best program out there.

These other guides are also VERY good and worth checking out. We've looked at about 20 panic and anxiety relief products and these are by far the best ones:

The Linden Method is a VERY close second to Panic Away. The only reason we place it slightly below Panic Away is because it's slightly more expensive. However, for the extra money you get the bonus of having trained counsellors and psychologists available for you to contact around the clock. The results from the program are very good, and it's extremely comprehensive. If you can afford the extra money, the Linden Method is well worth trying and the excellent money back guarantee will give you some peace of mind in your purchase.

EasyCalm is a very good program that takes a slightly different approach to some of the others. Founder Jon Mercer has opted for a course that is mostly comprised of videos rather than an ebook and some audio files which he claims: 'leave you on your own'.
Richard Presta takes a more aggerssive view on getting rid of your anxiety and panic attacks in the Anxiety Lie program. His approach is unique among the anxiety programs.
Choosing the Best Anxiety Treatment

There really is a lot of choice nowadays in the anxiety self help domain and the amount of information on the website of all of the products can be overwhelming. Each of them tries to convince you that their anxiety treatments is the best. The truth however is that no matter which anxiety treatment you use, its you who has to do most of the work. All these products can really do is act as a guide for you along your journey. Overall in terms of the simplicity of its approach and the price, Panic Away is the best value. The Linden Method offers fantastic after sales service, but this is reflected in the higher price.

Remember, all of these products come with great money back guarantees, so you'd be silly not to try some of them and see if they really work for you. With nothing to lose, its certainly worth a shot.

Often, the sufferer feels they are having a heart attack, going to die, or going to lose their mind during their first panic attack. Although a side-effect of other medical conditions, panic attacks, which can ultimately become panic disorder, stem from chronic anxiety.

Panic attacks also share common ground with agoraphobia, which is a fear of being in situations that the sufferer cannot easily ‘escape’ from.

Usually the first panic attack comes seemingly out of the blue. This is certainly the way it happened for me as I was at a music festival and was fine one minute and thought my world was ending the next. The next time I suffered an attack a few days layer, I ended up in the hospital emergency room convinced something major was up.

Often if one suffers a few panic attacks they begin to become reluctant to go places where they can’t escape from in the case that they have another attack. This cyclic process makes the underlying anxiety in the sufferer worse, thereby increasing their risk of further panic attacks and the agoraphobic behavior associated with it.

Treatment for Panic Attacks

Panic attacks and agoraphobia can be treated medically with drugs such as selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors, but most studies have shown that cognitive behavioral therapies (CBT) have better long term success, and many people prefer to avoid drugs wherever possible.

CBT involves changing the sufferer’s thinking and outlook on life and on their panic attacks. If you are suffering from panic attacks, the very first step in your treatment is to be able to accept that you are in no physical danger when having a panic attack. No matter how intense and terrifying it may feel and no matter how much your heart is racing, you’re body can and will physically regulate itself and no harm will come to it. Obviously in the early stages this is very difficult to do, but try not get dis-heartened. Fighting anxiety is a long road and you won't win overnight. Much like a smoker has to change their behavior to get free of cigarettes, you'll have to do the same to get free of panic.

From this base, the next step is to begin to understand what a panic attack is, where it stems from, and what it is in your subconscious mind that is leading to the attacks.

Once the sufferer is armed with this information, they are encouraged to challenge themselves by putting themselves in a position where they once feared having a panic attack, but now should have the insight and confidence to be able to suppress the panic attack when they feel it coming on, through rational thought and a calm and calculated analysis of the situation.

It’s really important that you begin your treatment for panic attacks as soon as you begin to suffer them. The longer you let them go on for, the worse you risk your agoraphobic symptoms becoming and this will make your eventual treatment longer and potentially more difficult.

A good place to start is using a self-help guide. At the time I was suffering, I couldn’t afford to see a therapist for several weeks so I just bought the guide in the link below for less than the price of a single session and it had me on the road to recovery in less than a week. It sets about helping you with all of the steps I listed above, as well as methods for getting your general anxiety levels right back down so you don’t run the risk of suffering a re-lapse and having further attacks in the future.

How Does Panic Away Work?

The first thing you’ll notice about the program is how well Barry will pinpoint your symptoms, even without having met you. Stuff like difficulty with breathing, fear of getting stuck in traffic, fear of losing control, discomfort in public places, always needing to be near an exit etc. It was refreshing to know that there were a lot of other people experiencing the same feelings as I was and immediately when I saw what I was going through described so well, I was confident that he might have a solution.

So many of the other products and techniques I tried focusing on dealing with just getting through the immediate panic attack or spell of anxiety, without actually addressing the problem and giving you information on how to stop these attacks so you can stop living in fear.

Panic Away teaches you how anxiety and panic attacks work in taking over your mind so that you live in constant fear of another attack. The first attack is so terrifying that your mind is overcome with the fear of having another one, and what you will do if it arises, how you can escape it and so on.

This kind of thinking of course, further contributes to your general anxiety level and becomes a downward spiral. Most people who have never experienced panic attacks, doctors included, don’t know how terrifying they are and how useless conventional advise like deep breathing techniques are when it comes to trying to deal with them. That’s another reason why I was confident when I signed up to the Panic Away program; Barry McDonagh, the creator, was himself a panic and anxiety sufferer and when he couldn’t find any suitable treatment, he set about designing his own and put in a lot of research in the process.

The product of this research is what became his approach to dealing with panic and anxiety. It involves actually stamping out the thought process that leads to anxiety, and thats all it is, a thought process. If you can apply what he teaches, in particular the 21-7 Technique you should notice a drastic improvement in a very short time. The 21-7 Technique is at the core of the program. It is based on a 21 second countdown to stop a panic attack and a 7 minute exercise to drastically lower general anxiety levels.

Breaking Down the Linden Method

In our Linden Method review, we're going to be looking at what the program has to offer. The site is quite overwhelming, so we've just taken out the key points that you need to know.

Chances are if you've made it this far you're looking for treatment for anxiety and/or panic attacks and the Linden Method is one of the best known programs out there. The program was put together by Charles Linden, who suffered from anxiety, panic attacks, and agoraphobia from a young age. I think it's important to choose a program formulated by someone who has actually suffered through the misery of anxiety as they are best placed to really understand what it takes to cure the condition.

>>Click Here to Visit the Linden Method Site<<

The program is extremely comprehensive and has the added benefit of free access to qualified psychologists and counselors. Its scope includes complete elimination of anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, and even OCD. It has its roots in cognitive behavioral therapy and focuses on changing your thought process and how you live your life.

It achieves this by helping you to train your mind to simply 'switch off' anxiety as you would a light. Obviously it's not as simple as that initially, but if you follow the course through and live by its teachings, it actually works extremely well. I could see why I was allowing anxiety to control me and learned the techniques necessary to stop it and put it back in its box.

The program is relatively easy to follow. The first step is to watch the 12 minute fast track video. Then, you read the manual and learn how to apply the so-called '9 pillars' approach to living without anxiety. It also comes with a large amount relaxing and anti-anxiety audio resource on CD (or MP3 if you choose the download version)

The main thing that attracted me to the program was the promise that it would eliminate my anxiety, rather than just helping me to cope, which is all that so many other programs offer. The 1 year guarantee also gave me great peace of mind that I wasn't just buying another piece of garbage by some fly-by-night who just wanted to make a fast buck off my misery. Linden has built up quite a reputation over the years and his program has reached over 140,000 anxiety sufferers. I hope the majority of them got as much from the program as I did.

In summary, I have to say that I can't do anything but recommend the Linden Method. It freed me from the anxiety, panic and agoraphobia that I had been suffering from for over 2 years. As soon as I completed the program I felt that I was armed with the tools to take life on again, confident in the knowledge that I could deal with the stresses and anxieties that life throws our way, without letting them swell into an unmanageable mess.

The one thing I will say though is that you MUST stick with the program from start to finish if you expect to see results.

There are quite a few products on the market nowadays for treating panic and anxiety . In this Anxiety Lie review, I hope to give you the information you need to make an informed choice on what product to choose.

The Anxiety Lie is a bit different from the other products in its approach. The author, Rich Presta, takes a no nonense apprach to your treatment. He firmly believes that the other products out there are too soft, and focused on making you feel better in the short term or eliminating the symptoms of anxiety and panic, whereas he deals with your anxiety very matter-of-factly and in fact almost aggressively at times!

It may seem something of a strange approach, taking people whose mental state is somewhat delicate and doing the equivalent of shouting at them. However, his methods are very effective in showing you how your anxious state of mind is your own fault, and because you ‘own’ it, it means that you can do something about it.

>>Click here to visit the Anxiety Lie Site Now<<

The title ‘The Anxiety LIE’ refers to the fact Presta believes most of what we hear about anxiety from the media and other products is a lie. In fact if you visit the Anxiety Lie website you’ll see that he stresses this viewpoint over and over again.

The program stresses that:

<span style="font-size:11.5pt;
font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#666666″>to put an end to your anxiety.

This is fairly representitive of the content of the entire course. No nonsense, no sugar coating, just straight talking.

The Anxiety Lie contains the following elements:

The Anxiety Lie Manual:

Approximately 100 pages detailing the lies that you read about anxiety and the lies you tell yourself as an anxiety sufferer including how overcoming anxiety isn’t really a grave task that’s difficult to face, and how you fool yourself into procastinating your anxiety treatment much like a smoker who says ‘I’ll give up tomorrow’.

The Anxiety Lie Audio Edition:

The audio version is great for two reasons. Firstly, not everyone wants to read a long text about how to get over their anxiety. Some people prefer audio books and find them easier to digest and for those people the fact that Presta has included an audio version is a real plus. Secondly, there is a lot of information in the book, and chances are you’re not going to take it all in the first time you read it so having the option to listen to the entire contents again while you’re doing something like cleaning the house or driving to work is a great resource.

The Truth Revolution Audio:

The truth revolution is something of an added extra, where Presta interviews a clinical psychologist about his methods and the failings of other anxiety treatments. Its a very informative interview and complements the core course material very well. It’s well worth a listen. Don’t just skip over it because it’s not directly related to the core material.

The Rescue Audio Session:

This is your 911 audio file. When you’re feeling very anxious or are having a panic attack, you play this file and Rich Presta talks you through the panic attack and brings your anxiety levels right back down. This is one of the most benificial parts of the course, because it gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the treatment methodology when your symptoms are at their worst. Make sure that you have this file ready to go whereever you are so that you can put it on as soon as you feel your anxiety or panic building. This is very important! It’s extremely effective in reducing your anxiety almost immediately and is the most impressive and valuable part of the course in my opinion.

Overall, I think the Anxiety Lie is a very good program and it delivers what it promises. Some people may be put off by the ‘in-you-face’ approach, but there’s no doubting it’s an effective technique. I highly recommend giving it a try.

>>Click here to visit the Anxiety Lie Site Now<<

Driving Fear is an anxiety and panic attack self help program that is specifically tailored to people whose anxiety is centered around driving and the fears they experience when the are behind the wheel.

The author of the program is Rich Presta, who was the brains behind the fantastically successful and highly regarded Anxiety Lie program. Click the link to read the Anxiety Lie review on this site.

So why is there a need for such a program? Well, there are millions of people who suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and in a very large percentage of sufferers, driving is one of the central triggers of their anxiety. As such, Presta decided to address this specific aspect of the condition directly. I myself suffered a variant of driving fear where I was terribly afraid that my stick-shift transmission car would roll backwards when I was on a hill, and that I would lose control and not be able to move it. The fear became so bad that I got a new car with an automatic transmission! Needless to say I was interested when I heard about this program.

>>Click here to get Driving Fear Now<<

As with all good anxiety treatment programs, it focuses on really thinking about your situation logically at length. For some people it is a fear of being on highways or motorways, for others it is being stuck in heavy, slow-moving traffic that terrifies them. No matter the specifics, in all cases it is a groundless fear that ultimately relates to not being in control.

The base of the Driving Fear program is similar to that used by Presta in the Anxiety Lie, where he challenges you to eliminate the negative thought processes from your mind by really focusing on your fears. His approach is simply to re-train your brain. Through your sub-conscious, it has built up a perceived threat that it believes exists when driving and now you have to train it that there is no threat. It really is quite a simple and elegant approach, and the program provides you with all of the tools you need to do it.

Two versions of the program exist, standard and premium.

The standard version features the following elements:

The Manual: This represents the core of the program where Presta delivers his material and teaches you how to address your anxiety and how you need to alter your thought process to get your brain back on track and thinking rationally.

The Driving Fear Interviews: An interview series where Presta talks to experts in anxiety and panic to ascertain their views on the fear of driving and how it pertains to anxiety and panic attacks.

The Anixety Helix Report: Slightly oddly named, this element of the course is a ready-reckoner in understanding what causes panic attacks and anxiety while driving. It is closely related to some of the material covered in the Anxiety Lie program,

The Overdrive System: Bonus material to be used by people suffering from the most severe driving anxiety. In a lot of cases, you won't even need this part, but it's good to have it there as a backup and certainly worth listening to if you have time. It features a very interesting audio seminar with a mental health professional who is an expert in anxiety and panic attacks.

The premium edition features the following extras:

The Audio Version: Essentially the manual in audio format. Very handy for when you're out and about and want to listen to the material. It's particularly helpful to have on while you're actually driving and it's a great, quick way to go through the course material a second time if you need to.

The Video Series: The same material covered in the book and audio series', but delivered in Quicktime video format by Presta. This is probably the best way to go through the course.

The S.A.F.E Series: A new treatment, subliminal auditory fear elimination is designed to alleviate your anxiety very quickly by using subliminal techniques.

The Fast Lane Audio: This series is tailored at the specific fears people have when driving, like the one I mentioned earlier. The series deals with where they stem from and how best to address them.

Overall, you get a huge amount of content for your money, particularly with the premium edition and most importantly the material is top quality and very effective. Given that it costs about the price of one tank of gas and it comes with a full 8 week money back guarantee, it's well, well worth checking out.

The main goal is to change the thought processes of the anxiety sufferer, in terms of eradicating dysfunctional negative thinking and changing their responses to situations in life. The techniques used in CBT help the person to identify and react to negative thought processes and emotional responses and change their behavior over time.

Central to the use of cognitive behavioral therapy for anxiety is the concept of mindfulness where the sufferer attempts to analyze and understand their thought processes when they begin to feel particularly anxious or feel a panic attack.

>>Click here for a very effective CBT guide<<

How Does CBT Work?

In the initial stages of the therapy, the well-established negative thought processes will often win out and the sufferer will often give-up, admitting defeat. Like any skill however, it is possible to improve by trying time and time again. For this reason, CBT treatment usually consists of a number of sessions.

When the person begins to feel anxious, they are encouraged to really dwell on what they feel anxious about, and to appraise whether their perceived negative outcome is the most likely one, or indeed if it is anything more than a remote possibility.

In the case of panic attacks for example, a sufferer might say that they refuse to go to the supermarket because they feel like they might have an attack.

The therapist will attempt to help them rationalize this thought process by thinking about the real likelihood of having an attack, and the consequences if they do. Most panic and anxiety sufferers cite public reaction to their attacks as one of the main reasons why they are reluctant to go somewhere they perceive they might have such an attack. The truth however is that in the first instance, although it may not feel like it to the sufferer, most people will not even notice they are having a panic attack as almost all of the symptoms are internal. Secondly, if it does become apparent, the vast majority of people will be helpful and in a public place you are likely to be surrounded by strangers for whom the event will be of little to no consequence.

Continuing in this manner, the sufferer is encouraged to change their thought process about anxiety such that its grip over them begins to loosen.

Increasingly, people are looking to go about curing anxiety naturally, and CBT based techniques provide a platform for this. The techniques have been found to outperform medication in many cases when it comes to generalized anxiety disorder treatment.

For anxiety sufferers with limited capacity to pay a therapist or whose appointments are scheduled far into the future, there are a number of online CBT-based self help programs available. Panic Away is probably the best of these, and you can read our Panic Away Review, or check out our best anxiety treatments page for a comparison of the guides.

The guides represent a cheap and effective way to deal with anxiety in your time and at your own pace.

Even the video goes some way to re-assuring you and it makes you very confident that he will be able to help you.
The 21-7 technique itself is completely natural and based on self help rather than medication, about changing your thought process in a slow and controlled fashion. All it takes is some training and you should be able to apply both the ‘21’ part and the ‘7’ part very effectively in your own time and to follow it at your own pace. A lot of people would rather cure their anxiety naturally and Panic Away is one of the better resources if you want to go down this road.

Note however that a 'quick fix' shouldn’t be your goal when trying to rid yourself of general anxiety and panic attacks. The 21-7 technique is a remedy not a cure, a 'system' to help you get through the unpleasant feeling associated with panic and anxiety, but not designed to get to the root of the problem In order to completely free yourself from panic and general anxiety you will need to apply yourself to the rest of the Panic Away program and try not to get discouraged in the early stages, as it can take several weeks.

When using the program, I certainly found the 21-7 technique helpful for treating the short term symptoms and alleviating the feeling of tightness and tension that anxiety brings, but I stuck with the rest of the program to ensure that I didn’t have to rely on 21-7 long into the future. It works by programming you to take control back when you start to feel anxious or panicky and by getting your brain to accept the message that your are in no physical danger. The transfer of this message from your conscious to your sub-conscious mind can take a while and this is where the 21-7 technique comes in very handy as a stop gap.

Unfortunately I can’t give you all of the details of the specifics of the technique here without getting into copyright trouble! However, what I can say is that it does provide a great ‘crutch’ and gave me the confidence to get out and about and start doing the things I used to do without having the fear of suffering a panic attack in the back of my mind all the way. The 21 second countdown is a great quick tool which you can lean on as you get back out into the world, and it will rid you of the feeling of fear which you probably currently feel about doing mundane everyday things. Once you have the 21 7 technique to rely on, you begin to feel more and more comfortable and the panic attacks lose their control over you.

I was wary about buying the program initially as there are a lot of scams out there, but the fact that you can get all of your money back for up to 8 weeks after you purchase was enough re-assurance for me to go ahead and make the investment in my mental health. I'm glad to say I didn't have to make use of the refund!
There are many things you can do to help yourself. The first step is to get educated. The more you understand the mechanisms behind panic disorder, the more equipped you will be to conquer it.

You can lay the groundwork for beating panic disorder yourself by following the easy to execute techniques outline in this article.

One thing to note is that there is no quick fix. These techniques won't help you immediately but if you stick with them, you'll gradually begin to find relief.

<span lang="EN-ZA" style="font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:11.0pt;line-height:115%;mso-ansi-language:
EN-ZA”>Visualisation

Visualisation is a great way to rewire your brain and can be a great help with panic disorder. Imagine the situation or situations that make you feel uncomfortable. Now see yourself reacting calmly and feeling completely at ease. Play this little video in your head every day. Try to make it as vivid as possible and really feel the relief of being in control, and see yourself as you would like to be, relaxed, calm and in control.

<span lang="EN-ZA" style="font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:11.0pt;line-height:115%;mso-ansi-language:
EN-ZA”>Progressive Relaxation

This involves relaxing your body form the tip of your toes to the top of your head. You can easily find a script on the internet or design one of your own. A basic formula would involve sitting or lying down in a quiet place, closing your eyes and breathing deeply. Concentrate on breathing slowly and with each exhalation let go of a bit of tension. Then start by relaxing each toe, then the feet, then the ankles and so on, until you have covered each section of your body. You should find this a very effective help with panic disorder.

<span lang="EN-ZA" style="font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:11.0pt;line-height:115%;mso-ansi-language:
EN-ZA”>Breathing

Learn how to do deep belly breathing. When you are anxious, your muscles tense up and your chest becomes constricted. This means that your breathing is shallow and ineffective and you don’t get enough oxygen to the cells or to your brain, which does not help with panic disorder. The lack of oxygen stresses you even further. The easiest way to restore calm is to take a few deep breaths. To check if you are doing it correctly, lie down with a book on your navel. When you breathe in the book should move up. If it doesn’t, keep practising until it does.

<span lang="EN-ZA" style="font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:11.0pt;line-height:115%;mso-ansi-language:
EN-ZA”>EFT

Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT, is a fabulous self-help tool to overcome emotional and physical pain. It is very easy to learn and involves tapping on specific points on your body and saying certain phrases. It is also known as emotional acupuncture and is very useful for help with panic disorder. You know that the panic is not logical but that does not stop it from happening. EFT is a way to ‘talk’ to your subconscious and move memories that are stuck in your energy system.

<span lang="EN-ZA" style="font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:11.0pt;line-height:115%;mso-ansi-language:
EN-ZA”>Surrender

Remember that what you resist, persists. Anytime you feel a panic attack coming on, just let go and don’t try to fight it. If you don’t push against it, you might find that it simply dissolves. This might sound counter intuitive until you consider what you have been doing up until now. If fighting it hasn’t worked, why not try to do the opposite? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

Usually panic attacks result from a build-up of anxiety in a person over a period of months or years.

As well as panic attacks, a sufferer will need to address the roots and origins of anxiety and their thought process and methods of dealing with stress before they can have a real chance of dealing with panic attacks.

The first steps involve understanding the cause of panic attacks, realizing that you're not in any real physical danger, that you're not alone and millions of people around the world suffer the same condition and understanding the steps required to overcome them.

>>Click for the Best Guide to Overcoming Panic Attacks<<

Origin of Panic Attacks

Panic attacks can happen for a variety of reasons. They can be related to substance abuse, or a sudden traumatic event in life or more commonly when there is a buildup of anxiety in the sufferer over a sustained period of time. Eventually one, or a combination of these triggers cause an imbalance in the brain which leads to a sudden period of intense and very real terror in the sufferer, with no legitimate external stimulus responsible for this terror.

The attacks typically last about 20 minutes and in the aftermath the sufferer feels drained, confused, and fearful of another attack. Typically they will not realize panic attacks for what they are until the have had several episodes. Initially, most people believe they are suffering from a heart condition due the increased heart rate that usually accompanies a panic attack.

Steps to Overcome Panic Attacks

Typically it will take at least several weeks before sufferers of panic attacks are in the right mental state to begin to overcome them. Medical help for panic attacks is still quite inconsistent. In my own experience I was simply given Valium and sent home. For this and a variety of other reasons, many people, myself included choose to try and tackle their panic attacks themselves.

As I mentioned above, the initial steps involve researching what exactly a panic attack is and why you think you might be suffering from them.

What is it in your life which led you to the state of mind where you were so anxious that you developed panic attacks? What do you think you can do to reverse this? Do you need to alter your thought process or your outlook on life in order to reduce your general anxiety levels? These are all the things you need to ask yourself and know the answers to before you can begin to move on and start your journey out of panic and back to an enjoyable life.

Usually panic attack sufferers will begin to realize over time that daily stress in their lives began to get on top of them and they began to fall into negative thought process. Constant negative thought and stress is a sure way to lead one's self toward general anxiety and sustained anxiety very often leads to panic attacks. Once you lay the frame work and begin to examine and understand yourself better, you'll be on the road to realizing that panic attacks in reality have no hold over you and you can move past them.
